About

Stephen Skinner is a Byron Bay–based abstract artist whose work is inspired by the landscapes, textures, and natural rhythms of the Northern Rivers region.

Working intuitively with layered textures, earthy palettes, and expressive mark-making, Stephen creates paintings that explore emotion, memory, and connection to place. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, his work balances spontaneity and restraint, inviting viewers to discover their own meaning within each piece.

After spending a decade living and travelling throughout Europe, Stephen returned to Australia, where he now lives and works with his wife and two young children. As a self-taught artist, he continues to develop a distinctive visual language that reflects both the raw beauty of nature and the emotional landscapes that shape our experience of it.

Stephen's work is held in private collections throughout Australia and internationally. He is available for select commissions.
