Biography

Stephen Skinner, an Australian artist originally from Northern Beaches, NSW, crafts abstract works characterized by a captivating blend of colour and texture. His art draws from the ocean, local landscapes, and sandy beaches, reflecting a dynamic interplay of simplicity and energetic process. With a self-taught background and influences from Miro, Monet, Rothko, Richter and Picasso, Steve's spontaneous style and precise use of colour result in diverse and engaging canvases.

After a decade of living and traveling across the UK, Steve, now married with two young children, continues to evolve as an artist while sharing his skills with his family. He views painting as a grounding, joyful practice, finding deep satisfaction in transforming a blank canvas into something unique, especially for clients.

Stephen's work has been featured in notable exhibitions such as 'Art Below' at London Underground (2010), Brick Lane Gallery (2012), and several galleries in Australia, including Gallery109 (2021) and Michael Reid Gallery (2022). His art has also been showcased in British Vogue Magazine and he collaborated with Designer Boys Australia in 2020. Recent exhibitions include ArtKind Gallery (July 2023) and Mist Gallery (September 2023).
